In addition to SCRX planning and development tasks, the SCRPA actively sponsors the following activities to promote interest in rail safety, history, and education:

Southern California Railroad Days, a weekend of sights, sounds, and action for the public to see first hand what railroading is all about.  A truly family oriented event, the weekend attracts over 30,000 people each year.

The annual Railroad Safety Poster Contest is an opportunity to work with local schools to teach younger children about the dangers of being around trains.  Through classroom participation and individual thought expressed through safety posters, SCRPA is able to supplement the work of the Operation Life Saver programs sponsored by the nation’s railroads.

The SCRPA Members' Quarterly Dinners & General Meetings bring together the diverse membership for an evening of discussions of mutual interest, updates on SCRPA activities, and interesting guest speakers who provide timely information on rail related topics.

Hot Rail!, the SCRPA membership quarterly newsletter, is the main source of news, status of projects, and articles on historical and current subjects for the membership.  The newsletter is mailed to all members and is also available on the SCRPA website, where the photographs are in full color.

SCRPA is a source for historical information and finely detailed models of local depots and scenes of Southern California Railroads.  This is due to the talented members of the History and Modeling Committee, who exhibit at rail shows and fairs to promote the SCRX and railroading in general.

Free quarterly movie nights for members.
