SCRPA POSTER CONTEST ARCHIVES
2013 RAILROAD SAFETY POSTER CONTEST
TOP WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Our 15th annual competition among kindergartners through sixth-graders in the Fullerton School District is complete. The contest aims to raise students' awareness of the need to make safe choices near the railroad tracks and the more than 120 trains that roll through Fullerton every day.
Chairman Kathy Norris has announced the following top citywide winners for the two categories -- and their poster will be on display this weekend at the Railroad Days in Fullerton Welcome Center:
Kindergarten through Third Grade
First place -- Jacob Kim, third grade, Golden Hill Elementary
Second place -- Christine Yoo, kindergarten, Fisler Elementary
Third place -- Emily Loza, kindergarten, Pacific Drive Elementary
Fourth through Sixth Grade
First place -- Mindy Jun, sixth grade, Fisler Elementary
Second place -- Yunji Kim, fourth grade, Acacia Elementary
Third place -- Benjamin Byun, sixth grade, Fisler Elementary
All posters selected as school winners will be displayed in the Fullerton Main Library's Childrens Room through the month of May.
The six citywide winners will be recognized at the May 21 Fullerton School District Board of Trustees meeting. Thanks to the support of the Rotary Club of Fullerton and Amtrak, they will each receive four passes to their choice of an Amtrak trip to Santa Barbara or San Diego, as well as cash prizes of $100, $75 or $50, respectively, based on placement.
