HAROLD BENASH, President
Civil engineering consultant; extensive experience in construction management and public works construction; expert in rail modeling and railroad operations.
DENNIS WHITE, Vice President
Expert in national rail history; rail equipment and operations; rail transportation services; air and sea transportation and equipment.
BARBARA ELDREDGE, Secretary and Treasurer
Retired attorney; contacts in fund-raising and non-profit operations; 20-year member of Fullerton Public Library Building Authority.
GORDON R. BACHLUND, Director
Registered professional engineer; extensive experience in rail equipment restoration and operations; construction project manager on major public works projects.
GEORGE J. BARLOW, Director and Membership Chairman
Thirty years as systems engineer for IBM; developed accounting system for nonprofit business; involved in major restoration project for the Santa Fe 3751 steam locomotive; licensed steam locomotive engineer.
FRED H. CANFIELD III, Director
Retired software executive; planning, coordination, and implementation of major rail themed public event; owner and exhibitor of complex model railroad displays; contacts with destination attractions, model railroad themed expositions and conventions.
GEORGE H. ENGELAGE IV, Director
Owner, Coast Rail Services, Inc., a rail operations and services business; locomotive, passenger, and freight operations; knowledgeable in train movements and requirements; close relationships to all levels of BNSF and Union Pacific operations and management.
TERRY M. GALVIN, Director
Extensive experience in planning and redevelopment, project management, grant writing, and interagency coordination; major public event planning and implementation.
RICHARD L. HOPPING, OD, Director
Former president of major private educational institution; extensive experience with nonprofit foundations and fund raising; organization management and operations.
DONNA JOHNSON, Director
Twenty-five years in journalism, including community reporting and editing positions with major Southern California newspapers; adjunct faculty of the North Orange County Community College District, teaching Older Adult Program classes; longtime involvement in area youth, sports, and charitable organizations; volunteer experience in arts and museum programs.
STUART G. PROCTOR, Director
A Fullerton resident and an employee at Boeing Inc. (formerly McDonnell Douglas Aerospace) in Huntington Beach since 1980, working as a calibration technician. Previously served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970, following graduation from Lakewood High School. He also attended Long Beach City College.
JEFF SCHULZE, Director and Railroad Days Chairman
Owner of model train business; nineteen years’ experience in retail sales and management; lifelong railroad modeler and collector; decorated combat veteran.
STAN SWANSON, Director
Over 30 years retail operations management, including organization, advertising, promotion, and event planning; small-business owner.
ELBERT "AL" SWERDFEGER, Director
An educator for 34 years, taught woodshop at Saddleback High School until his retirement; served a four-year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission for Garden Grove, where he resides. A “scratch” modeler since 1946, with a particular interest in garden railroads; also a modeler for 240 circus displays
MICHAEL VITALE, Director
Manager of software development for major entertainment industry business; experience with nonprofit accounting; owner of locomotives and rolling stock.
